Love the colours on this one, they were really fun to do!
The reference picture I've used is popular on DA, but I really wanted to have a go with the amazing lighting on the photo! And as you can see, I've used some stylization/simplification to increase the psychadelic quality. Hope you like it!
Blue, red, yellow, pink, white and black oil paints on canvas board, about 5 hours.
Amazing colours! So bold, funky and eye catching.
This reminds me of an effect you can do on the computer... solar mode or something, where all the colours turn to bright blues, reds and greens. Hehe.
I love how you've managed to fit the reds and the blues so neatly around the face, as well as marge the pink to the blue in the hair. The white highlights different areas of the picture beautifully, and i especially love the heavy contrast on the face between the red, white and blue. The background has been filled really well (Especially love the white mark on the bottom left with various shades of pink emitting from it... ) The way the brushstrokes in the background on the right flare out behind him makes it look like there's a bright red light there, highlighting his face while the other half remains in blue shadow. The bold outlines from the black seem to add an abstract quality to this peice to... they definatly seem to complete the picture somehow.
I just love the overall effect of this picture.
I'm amazed at how you've managed to blend all the colours so perfectly yet still manage to get highlights and shadows. The colours are really bold and eye-catching, I can't stop looking at it. I love the expression on his face, I want to know what he's looking at and what he's thinking Beautiful brushstrokes on the cheeks and the hair especially.
Incredible, as always!
